If one of your friends had cancer, would you tell them to just stay in bed all day, make some tea, and watch Netflix to get better? No.  You would tell them to go to a doctor and get medical treatment.  Why then does half of tumblr treat mental illness this way? People on this website’s attitude towards mental health is disgusting, and so many of the posts on here are feeding into and perpetuating mental illness, not helping it. 

Taking time to do things that make you feel better IS valid and IS an extremely important part of getting better, but by no means is it a substitute to actual treatment.  Ya’ll need to check yourselves before posting something that someone could internalize that would prevent them from getting help.
